T House

A Tadao Ando inspired river front home presents a brutal insitu concrete façade to address a busy T intersection and the western sun. However, the monumentality is softened by the filigree of shadows of mature Poincianas and the “pin cushion” of construction penetrations which (filled by Perspex rods) allow night light to emanate from the interior. Concrete is chosen for its plasticity and robustness; most materials remain unadorned and warmth is achieved by the inherent colouring and texture of materials such as timber and lamb’s wool.
